Over the last couple of weeks, our experts have posted some blogs about AdWords and the importance of Google +. This update, however, sees AdWords and Google + collide!
Last year, (on July 14th 2014, so almost a precisely a year ago) Google made it easier for business owners to manage their ‘location extensions’ by linking Google My Business location information to their AdWords accounts.
What are location extensions?
Location extensions in AdWords show your business details and add a map marker on these ads. They are especially handy on ads that appear for mobile searches because they can include a link with directions to your business.
What are the benefits?
Location extensions encourage people to visit your location in person and make it easier for your potential clients/customers to find you. Being able to see your business’s contact details also helps to build trust. If you have multiple addresses, these can also be added.
One of the main benefits is that, on average, ads with location extensions see a 10% boost in click through rates*.
So what’s new?
Local businesses with reviews and ratings from users can now have ratings stars shown in their AdWords strategy, along with the location extensions.
Businesses with location extensions enabled in Adwords, through Google My Business, are eligible to have ratings show up in ads for desktop and tablet search results. Some sources claimed that this is not available on mobile yet however Results First staff have done some test searches on mobile SERPS and ratings stars have appeared.
If you have your accounts linked up, then you don’t need to take any action for your ads to be eligible to show ratings stars. If not, or if you would like some further information, please contact us to find out more.
